Oi gente!!! (that means Hi everyone in portuguese, which is my first language). This is Fernanda Jardim and I’m so excited to share, my limited series podcast “Curlify the outdoors”,

I grew up in a small town in Brazil and I have been calling Seattle my home for a few years now. I identify as Afro-Latina and I’m super proud of my heritage, though my relationship with my hair had been a rough one until a couple years ago. Besides going to the regular transition from straightening it for over 15 years, I had to deal with learning how to take care of my hair while spending time outdoors, which has been pretty challenging, especially with the lack of curly haired humans of color that I could get inspiration from.

I’ve decided to start this project because, well, I know I’m not the only person in the world who has super curly hair and struggles with finding gear, hooded jackets and hair care while hiking or backpacking. So, I wanted to share my experiences while listening to other folks stories and journeys with their curly hair and the outdoors.

With this project, I hope to elevate our voices and instigate some changes and conversations around this topic.
